Live to Tape - The Mike Steiner Collection - Hamburger Bahnhof - Berlin

From the beginning of the 1970s, gallerist, collector and artist Mike Steiner was one of the earliest proponents of the young medium of video art in West Germany. Inspired by several trips to New York, where he came into contact with developments in video and action art, he opened the Studiogalerie in the vicinity of Berlin's Kurfürstendamm in 1976. The gallery soon became one of the defining exhibition spaces for Berlin media artists, who had received little attention before, as well as presenting international pioneers in video art and performance.

Geissler / Sann - volatile smile - NGBK - Berlin

Ruth Ewan - The Ephemeral Past - Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo - Seville

Ruth Ewan (Aberdeen, Scotland, 1980) explores recent and distant instances of cultural activism. Tracing how ideas circulate through non-official channels as oral tradition, songs and myths; by studying how a movement, event or cultural product from the past can produce reactions in the present; and how these reactions can be controlled, transferred or adjusted to produce new meanings and interpretations.

Anton Henning - Talbot Rice Gallery - Edinburgh

In his first solo show in Scotland, German artist Anton Henning will create a Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art) within Talbot Rice Gallery. Bright painted walls will transform the space providing a backdrop for the exhibition, which brings together furniture, lighting, easel painting, sculpture, window painting and drawing.

Gabriele Beveridge, Tomas Downes, Stuart Elliot - Rod Barton Gallery - London

Multiple readings can be made between the works - the gestural surfaces of Stuart Elliot's paintings mimic the images of ruptured concrete shielded under tinted glass in Tomas Downes' floor sculptures. These in turn are reflected in the dappled faux granite and complex imagery within Gabriele Beveridges assemblages. Drawing comparisons between the pieces forces the spectator to consider the space in-between – making them receptive to their own physicality as well as that of the gallery space and the works that inhabit it.

From the statement that nowhere can be now here follows the logical implication that it can be also somewhere else.

Bolaño's writing -- lyrical, evocative, transformative, political, and powerful -- has been a common passion for many of the artists in this exhibition as well as the organizers. The exhibition is partly homage to the writer, and partly an exploration of the timbre and topicality of his works.
